May 20th at Public Assembly in Williamsburg

On Thursday May 20th at 10pm, I’ll be playing at Public Assembly in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. I’m looking forward to this show, as I’ll be joined by violinist Tom Swafford and guitarist Dinshaw Gobhai. Other bands on the bill that night include La Defense, The Workshop Model, Figures of Speech, and The Juvenals. The first band takes the stage at 8pm and then at 12Midnight, DJ Mullvad takes over! Public Assembly is located at 70 North Sixth Street. Take the L train to Bedford Avenue and walk towards the water on 6th Street. The show will be in the Back Room at Public Assembly. Indiegrrl Nashville

This morning I’m on my way to Nashville for the 2009 Indiegrrl Women in the Arts Conference. I’m incredibly proud and excited to be taking part. The conference takes place from August 20th-23rd. It will includes tons of workshops, showcase performances, song pitching opportunities and live webcasts from the conference floor. I’ll be playing at the Indiegrrl Main Stage, the Tryxo Entertainment Stage, the Texas Women’s Guerrilla Showcase Room, and the Women’s Radio Guerrilla Showcase Room. I’m also also lucky to be receiving an artist development mentoring session with Eric de Fontenay of MusicDish. Stay tuned for details from each day!

Finished Mixing 3 song EP!

As you may remember, I started the process of making a full-lenth CD a couple of months ago. I’m hoping for it to be finished by the end of this year. In the meantime, I’ve decided to release a sampler version of the eventual full-length, which will include 3 songs that I’ve already begun to work on. The songs will be Elizabeth Dawn, Please Come to Brooklyn, and She’s Not Waiting (which will the eventual title track on the full-length). I’ve been working so far at BaranStoll Studios here in the East Village on New York. My engineer is Vivian Stohl who has just been doing an amazing job at getting a really great final sound out of the takes from recent weeks. We have just finished the mixing of these three songs. Actually, I’m writing from the studio right now, finishing up about 2:30am. My plan is to have these songs up and the EP version out in about a week. Stay tuned!

New Violin Player

I have a new violin player joining me on my show at Banjo Jim’s this coming Saturday. His name is Tom Swafford.

We had another rehearsal this weekend and it went very well. I really think you will enjoy what he adds to my songs. He moved here from Seattle a couple of years ago, plays around with various New York groups, and is the composer/arranger for String Power, a 12 piece string ensemble. I saw the group a couple of weeks ago at The Tea Lounge in Park Slope and they were fabulous.
